The short answer
Photo booth props get handled by dozens of guests over a single event, which is a very different durability requirement to a one-off film shoot — the notes need to survive repeated handling, not just look good in one take.
A fanned stack or a single handful of notes is the standard photo booth prop — enough to read clearly in a photo without needing guests to manage a full bulky stack while also holding other props.
For events running the booth across several hours (weddings, corporate parties, milestone birthdays), ordering a couple of spare stacks alongside the main set means a worn or bent note can be swapped out partway through the night.
As with any guest-facing use, the NOT LEGAL TENDER marking matters here specifically — guests are handling the notes directly and taking them home in photos, so the prop framing needs to be unambiguous at a glance.

Frequently asked
How many notes does a photo booth prop typically need?
A fanned handful or single stack is usually enough — the notes just need to read clearly in a quick photo.
Should I order spares for a long event?
Yes — a couple of spare stacks let you swap out a worn note partway through a multi-hour event.
